Mungo Park's First Journey

Mungo Park was born on September 11, 1771 in Shalkirk, Shire, Scotland. He would study medicine and botany in natural history at the University of Edinburgh. In 1792, after graduating, he would sign on as an assistant surgeon with the East India Company. The account of his first journey would help kick off an era of European exploration in Africa.
