Askia mohammed spread the boundaries of the songhai empire until it was the largest territory that africa had ever seen. While he shared something of his predecessor's military skill, in many ways, aski mohammed seems to have been the polar opposite of suni ali. He befriended scholars and sought counsel from them over the appointments and dismissals he made.
