Einstein's Opposition to the Universe Expanding

The theory of general relativity revealed that space is not static, and that it instead must be expanding or contracting. But in the early days of cosmology, there was of hesitation to accept such a strange new picture of reality. This was a famously hard pill for him to swallow.
