Blair's Success in 1997

Blair was responding to this change in the economy and learning lessons from history as he saw it. He wanted to reassure England that the Labour Party wouldn't be too radical. Blair did end up following the template that Major set at the Maastricht Treaty, which was to say we are going to deal pragmatically with our relationship with the European Union.
