The Future of Parallelism in SQL Server
In 9.6, it was very limited in scope, but still useful for people. In version 10, a couple of big improvements were added. So we could get up to three cores working on our query at the same time. And if we check examples, I think it's very doable to find examples where you disable parallelism for some query. Time is the most important for end user. But buffers here are also important and overhead, I think exists in terms of both. It's good to check both when you analyze and make decisions based on that.
