The Russians and Ukraine's Counter-Offensives

The area around the city of Kursan is mainland Ukraine, bordered to the east by the Dnieper River. On the other side of that river is more of the Kursan Oblast and ways further south you end up in the Crimean Peninsula. The hope was to be able to create another situation near Kursan where Russian troops would be isolated and forced to surrender or retreat.
