The focus is material, at least for the person who's at the top and doing most of the quote unquote ministry. Oftentimes this happens with the Old Testament in charismatic movements. They tend to focus on big sweeping stories and taking a principle out of the story that may or may not be there. And then applying it to a completely different situation.
