The Importance of Symmetry in the Standard Model
We know that we need this symmetry violation in the standard model. But the standard model is big and complicated because it literally describes the entire universe except gravity. We're not really sure where to put that asymmetry where to putting that symmetry breaking. And so one of the leads that we're hunting down is the idea that a fundamental particle like the electron would itself be symmetry breaking, as well.
