Constantine ended a long period of political instability and intermittent civil war. His policy of religious toleration also was a welcome change after the years of persecution under diocletian. It's difficult to know how to assess the significance of Constantine and his Christianity one of the most distinguished Constantine scholars ever Arnold H. M. Jones says only rarely does Constantine speak of god as the savior.
