I'm reading A Peasing Hitler by Tim Bovry at the moment. It's his first book, but I think it's one of the finest books about the lead up to the Second World War that I've yet read. My ambition was to get into the treasury. And if I could to be Chancellor, I don't know that I'd stretched it beyond that. Everyone who has become Prime Minister other than the perhaps titans of politics needs a measure of luck, time and circumstance to get there. So I didn't particularly sit there thinking, am I going to be Prime Minister? I did want to go to the treasury.
