The first edition of the JavaScript standard was codified in 1997 in France. Microsoft sent some people who were pretty good, and then when they realized that Netscape was not going to just bend over and do whatever they wanted, they sent somebody really good. Over time, his Netscape went down and Microsoft went up. Was the standardization process beautiful or painful that those early days as a designer? It was painful because it was rushed.
