Do Vertebrates Have Nociceptas?

Nociception occurs in bony fish like rainbow trout, slugs and fruit flies. This is evolutionarily very, very far back before there was even a split between vertebrates and invertebrates. So does that answer the question of can animals feel pain? It doesn't feel like it does, does it? No. But basically what I'm saying is even in animals that don't have a spinal cord, these pain receptors are very, very similar to what we have.
