The Lascars, the Last Guards

Many of the sailors were shanghaid, taken from poor families. The lascars were totally expendable and expected to lose five or ten crew members along the way. They came as a package so they couldn't under no one, no european could understand their argo. Used to sing songs that apparently were very anti european. It was the only form of rebellion. And they'd sing songs while they were, you know, em furling and unfurling sails,. et cetera.
