CHAPTER

Do We Need a White Noise Generator to Help Our Children Sleep?

Sally Kohn: Can we imagine that the human brain is going to be shaped differently depending on whether or not when it grows up in one environment or another? And would that impact their tendency to speak in a certain way as well as hear in acertain way? What do we know about that? She says sounds are going to structure the way that those neural networks actually lay down and will forever influence how you hear sounds.Kohn: We're not exposed to continuous white noise naturally. There is a value to having really salient structured sounds that are part of our natural environment to actually have the brain develop normally.
