How to Use Asynchronous Messaging to Coordinate Design Time Coupling
Chris Richardson: Orchestration and choreography are two different ways of handling design time coupling. He says you should avoid using distributed transactions because they actually introduce runtime coupling. "Choreography" is when services announce what they have done, which triggers actions in other services. 'Orchestration' involves an orchestrator telling participants what to do.
