Will the protests in Iran bring change?

The Inquiry

CHAPTER

Is This a Turning Point?

This isn't the first time head coverings have been at the heart of protests in Iran. In March 1979, shortly after the victory of the revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini rendered the veil compulsory. So it started with women for the freedom of choice, then it spread to a middle classes and now to petrochemical workers and also oil workers. Don't forget that Iran is an oil country, it's a frontier state, and if there is no more oil to be sold or to be produced, then the regime will collapse. Absolutely. This is a turning point comparing to other social movements Iran has witnessed for the past 43 years.
