The Role of Reflexes in Incontinence
If you have a spinal cord lesion, generally, or like always. So your reflexes are going to be hyper-reflective. And whatever reflex you test below the level of the injury is going to be ahyper-reflective one. You also get these other reflexes like the bibinski reflex where you look at the movement of the toe, whether it's up or down. If you knock off the higher descending inhibitor, the bladder can be also hyper-reflexive, which means it's over-tense and then that can cause incontinence.
