The Importance of Land in the Economy of Scale

I remember hearing that one of the driving factors in the last few years to growing urban populations and moving people out of the country's side into cities was so that they could take smaller plots of land and combine them. So what your argument now is that we should have plots in the land to fall back on. I'm not sure if those two go together, but my main point is it's not just about efficiency. It's a lot of times it's about security. Also, I think the demographics are going to change because we're dealing when we're talking about this particular topic.
