The Cartiff Giant

In the mid-1800s, a man named George Hall in upstate New York claimed to have found an ancient stone giant. But it was actually made of fort dodge gypsum and had been ageed with sulphuric acid. The fake giant became known as 'the cart of giant' but people still wanted to see this fake giant that had fooled all these people. In 19 forty eight, the new york state historical association was able to purchase the giant from private collectors. It is now on display at museums across the country.
