Humanitas - A Humanist's Dilemma

The word humanitas was originally used to mean a kind of friendly spirit and good feeling towards all men without distinction. In the 2nd century, it became understood as applying only to those who had some cultivation and education. Humanita seeks to amend the self before amending the world around it. It faces outward, but inward first.
