How Did Buddha's Teachings Be Set Up?

When buddha was having teachings, how did people hear it? They din't have microphones and pa systems. The answer that i got was it was set up like em that thing on wall street. You know, they'd have people who would repeat it for the outer reaching people. It wi ther's atgooactosly o, that is so crazy. I've never even thought of that, but those little details of the story give it so much more life.
