Cyrus Failed, but We Succeed
Clearchus, the Spartan kind of preeminent figure and kind of the tragic hero of book two. So that's the situation there offering Ariaeus. Well, Cyrus failed, but well, he died, but we succeeded. And why don't you succeed too and claim the throne for yourself? We won on the battlefield after all. The Greeks are kind of taking a hard line here. Then interestingly, Xenophon here speaks up himself. He talks about himself in third person in this whole work.
