Is There Logic Behind These Stories?

There must be some possible logic behind these stories if they make sense to us and affect us. Maybe it's something like the simulation argument, right? The simulation argument says that all of what we think of as reality is actually just a computer simulation being run by a much more advanced civilization. So maybe you could imagine that this narrative time element that stitches reality together is literally smarter people who play the role of editors or writers. They create a story by stitching together different things that happened in different universes... Some supernatural force, okay? That's fine. It's kind of a cop out.
