Cicero argues that the reading of the great classic greek and latin works is conducive to moral improvement. And so here, it's kind of an inverse almost, that if you want to understand the classic works, the important text, you actually have to improve yourself. But in any case, there is a very deep link between ind of moral character and human knowledge which plato and aristotle also get into.
