General David Richards in the Sierra Leone case had to deal with allies and different elements of the services. But Wellington had months and years to deal with those things. And commanders now may have only hours and days to deal with things which Second World War commanders had weeks and months to do. There's a compression of communications, although sometimes modern communications break down.
