Are You Obliged to Question the Beliefs That You Hold?

It seems at least possible that you don't have to believe what you've been taught. I certainly try to regard my own mind as if I'm culpable for error and that kind of thing. When I think about people who are in truly bad situations, like Megan Phelps Roper, it's not clear that she could have found her way out of it by herself. So on one hand, I feel like I myself have to have high standards for believing rationally.
