Dorothy's 'Bright Road'
Dorothy would say that she never met black men who were close to her level professionally and in terms of income. The false perception that she was sexually averse to her own race was problematic because it left her open to attack from all sides. This stereotype about dandridge painted her as a light skinned social climber whose body was only available to white men.
