Kids are better at globally optimizing. Adults, we locally maximize. Kids have to drop this as they become adults because from evolutionary perspective, you can have the privilege and luxury if you have someone taking care of you. But when you're an adult, there's like a woolly mammoth charging at you. You're not like, ooh, let me sing poems. You're like, okay, cool, we need to exit.
