The Importance of Feasting and Celebration

Jesus teaches both feasting and fasting. Even in our post-eaten world, there are times for food and drink to touch and see and taste naked unashamed vulnerability before God. Jesus orients the table of feasting in the context of what God says is good. That is celebratory. Just as I tell my own children, run outside, play, jump, scream, have fun, but do not step in the street. Indulgence and abstinence in their appropriate places, feasting and fast.
