The Importance of Productivity in Science

LZ Granderson: Let's give listeners perhaps a feel and a taste of what science of science research can find out. For example, you've given me a few articles that follow a line of research that talks about career or individual productivity. And I'm just actually going to start us off with reading these three or four sentences here from the significance of one of the first studies in PNAS. LZ: Historically, expectations for individuals rely on 60 years of research on aggregate trends which suggests that productivity rises rapidly to an early career peak and then gradually declines.
