Seasonal effective disorder is where you feel overwhelmingly tired, lethargic. The NHS website suggests that it is production of melatonin that could be affected. It says that in people with sad the body may produce melatonin in higher than normal levels causing people to feel more sleepy. But evidence that melatonin actually induces sleep is weak.
