Do We Really Need to Automate Our Ports?
Long shoreman unions in the united states have actively sisted automating our ports. The jones act, essentially requires all shipping between two us to be on a american made ship. That makes shipping very expensive, so we don't do a lot of it. And then you lay her on top of that, the shortage in truckers generally due also to the pandemic. But i think there is a role, and to administration's credit, they appear to be trying to get all o these private actors on the same page about trying to move to 24 seven operations.
