Is C-a-F-E With No Accent Marks Equal?
Unicode gives rules for what is considered an accent, and therefore you can say, actually a diacritic. And Swift will help you with some of that, but the key thing that Swift willhelp you with is it understands that C-A-F-E with accent, or a cute accent, is the same as C-a-f-e combining a cute accent. Those are different bit patterns, like they're two different lengths, they're different everything. But if you say in Swift, are these two strings equal, it will say they are absolutely equal. It's not just that it strips all accent.
