Bob Dylan - The Political Beetle
Bob Dylan was a very political figure when he started. And then he retreated from that and became much more abstract in his work to avoid politics. Because in America, it was so dangerous to be involved in politics. The irony is that John Lennon was assassinated in 1980, because he was the political beetle. So but Bob Dylan went the opposite way. He was much more cynical than John Lennon. People thought John was the cynical beetle, but Bob Dylan was much more realistic and hard bitten.
