Investing in Private Equity Funds
The biggest thing I think that I worry about when I commit to a manager who takes my money for, let's say, ten years is you're really doing the work up front to understand what they will do with your money. And so out of the 9,000 funds that are out there personally, because I have high criteria for not taking risk, I want managers that really create value. They're not just buying a company at auction and then using a lot of leverage to make it look like they generated a decent return. That's all high risk for me. So I eliminate about 8,000 of those managers out of my perspective.
