The Difference Between Petros and Petra in the New Testament
The word that would have been used in both cases, as many protestant scholars will admit, was ka. It wasn't part of new testament greek. And so we've got a real problem if we want to draw a rigid distinct tion on the difference between petros and petra. Jesus is pronouncing a blessing on peter. He's not running him down. He's magnifying him.
