The Battle of Diwania, Iraq
Eight men from Spain's Centro Nacional de Intellensia, or CNI, were temporarily working in Iraq. Four of the agents were there preparing to replace the other four who were getting ready to leave at the end of their tour. Their mission was to help protect the Brigade plus Ultra, the Spanish Army Unit taking part in the occupation of Iraq. The eight men were on their own without armored vehicles, no security escort and armed only with handguns.
