A dollar is not a dollar in every direction. If you were coming to buy something from me and it was $501, like really nitpicky, it feels like I am nickel and diming you. Whereas if it was $525 or $550, it feels better. Like you're not taking advantage of something, even though I'm paying more. It's a strange little quirk, but you don't feel like you're being taken advantage of with the nickels and dims.
