The Divine Right of Kings
In Europe and in history textbooks you'll look this up and it's just called the divine right of kings. Why do we follow this certain pope? It's because they have some sort of divine connection to God. And I think what we're going through right now is a confrontation with how fragile and how unstable those forms of secular democratic representation actually are. The nation state form is being totally decoupled from its capacity to regulate global capital for example.
