The trick is you have to have that turbine after it's done its work. You really have to get that pre burner up to ridiculously high pressures, like at least 20% higher than your main combustion chamber. Soot itself is so damaging that you can't really run a fuel rich kerosene engine. It'll clog the pores of the injectors, and it'll end up blowing up the engine.
