CHAPTER

What Is an Energy Function in Machine Learning?

Energy based models have com into fashion through things like gans, or any sort of noise contrasted estimation. In a jetina gan, what you have is you have a discriminator, and the discriminator will basically learn a function to differentiate data from non data. And then you basically have an energy learning competition. The discriminator now tries to push down on the energy where the true data is, and push up on the energyWhere the generated data is. So in this case, the discriminator neural network is the energy function, and the degenerator just tries to produce data that is compatible with that power.
