Asmoret Asafal Behreh is a professor of soil biogeochemistry at the University of California in Merced. She says that we humans are squandering its superpowers by treating it literally like dirt. There's twice more carbon in soil than there is in vegetation and air. A very small change in the amount of carbon stored in soil can make a big difference in maintenance of the earth's atmosphere.
