Around puberty, we start going through this process of detaching. Sometimes it's something simple like thumbing our nose at our parents. But one thing I would propose is maybe seeking to connect over something that doesn't require him to take a field trip with you. And so the next time you get to do something with your son, not needing that attachment will open it up for flourishing.
