Ulysses and the Rebels at Vicksburg
On May 17, Union troops blast their way through the exhausted, demoralized Confederate troops in just a few hours. General John Pemberton doesn't want to go down as the guy who lost Vicksburg. The rebels take up a defensive position on the east banks of the Big Black River. On May 18th, Tecumseh and his men catch up with Ulysses' entire army now sitting ready to pounce on Vicksberg.
