Inquiring Minds

CHAPTER

Is There a Difference Between Art and Science?

In science we try to extract general principles that apply to everyone. In art or in the humanities, we use the individual experience to illuminate what's universal. And i think because of that, we know a lot about vision. But even that, now we're learning about some people who just cannot imagine something visually in their mind's eye. Like ed catmell, like the cot the co founder of pixar, is such a person. He doesn't have a visual imagination in the way that many of us do. That tells you something inherent about the code of thought. Whatever your brain imagines must tell you something deep about their preferred way of representing information.
