Do You See Your Teacher as an Enlightened Being?
In the traditional language, there is the idea that you regard your teacher as an enlightened being. I've always found that a little tedious. You start viewing a teacher as omniscient and infallible in some way. That's going to lead to problems. In my terms, that doesn't mean that you go all kind of gaga and childlike and lose your discriminating faculty. And in fact, my teachers have been very encouraging of much more of the kind of discriminating side of things,. The sort of discriminating awareness and figuring things out, you know. It takes years. There's so many contexts. How do you even know, how do you learn how to do that stuff? It
