In the late 19th century, there was so much amazing stuff going on. And I think progress was so apparent to people. It was so clear that so much good was being done and that was making people's lives better. The 20th century did not bring world peace. That was part of this shattering of the illusion. But if you look at what happened after World War II, historians like Carl Becker writing about progress has been discredited.
Jason Crawford is the founder & president of The Roots of Progress, a nonprofit dedicated to establishing a new philosophy of progress for the 21st century. Jason has written well over 100 essays on the history of technology and the philosophy of progress, and given numerous talks and interviews on the same.
