How to Write a Mystery Plot

I define a mystery plot anytime there is information that the characters don't have that they need. I start with what needs to be discovered and I actually then break it into small chunks. This is kind of following one of my basic methods of plotting which is the idea of sense of progression. Sometimes I write the whole book with the clues being pretty out in the open and it's in a later draft that I then obscuicate and we hide.
