The Importance of Subjective Sources in Buddhism

There's really not that much real definitive historical sources on Buddha and his origins. Do you think it could be related just to the underlying worldview behind a lot of Eastern religions? Sort of that all is self or specifically the knowledge comes from within. Yeah, yeah, I think it's a worldview not just in the religion But just a worldview in the east.
