Is Religion a Part of Left Politics?
I think that because the left attracts people with at least a moral if not spiritual hunger, a deeply felt sense of righteousness or an obligation. I don't really think if you speak about that in the idiom of again appealing to say the Exodus story or the Hebrew prophets or passages in the New Testament, I don'treally think those are totally not understandable to non-religious people. That's like kind of how I think of what the project of the left is and so I just think kind of the work that is required to incorporate the religious left more completely into left politics is the work of left politics in general.
